Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Intensive

This 70-hour Intensive is for both yoga teachers and dedicated practitioners who are interested in the more subtle aspects of the Taoist and Buddhist practices of Yin Yoga and Mindfulness Meditation, enhancing communications skills, and fostering self-inquiry.

Mostly experiential, this training will lead to a deeper understanding of the practice and your authentic self, cultivating a sense of well-being that is rooted within, grounded in warmhearted awareness, and directly applicable to modern daily life.

During this Intensive, you will:

  • Explore movement (Yang) and stillness (Yin), breath as well as sound practices to elicit a wholesome expression of Chi in the body, fostering vitality and overall well-being;
  • Learn Yin yoga sequences for organ and meridian health, the upper body, and management of emotions and specific mind states;
  • Develop self-observation without judgment through writing, conscious communication, and meditation practices.
  • Investigate the Five Hindrances and how they affect you, leading to greater self-awareness and personal growth;
  • Cultivate compassion and resilience through mind training, thus enhancing connection with yourself and others, as a path of growth and genuine happiness.

Pre-requisites, required reading and assignments

Pre-requisites:

  • Prior training or extensive experience (3 years minimum) in Yin Yoga and/or Mindfulness Meditation;
  • Understanding of Sarah Power’s book Insight Yoga.

Pre-program reading and assignment:

  • Unhindered, Gil Fronsdal
  • A written assignment will be given upon registration for this Intensive

Required reading during the program:

  • Training in Compassion, Zen Teachings on the practice of Lojong, Norman Fisher
  • Buddhism, H. Smith & P. Novak

In addition to the 70 contact hours, students will be given reading and writing assignments to be completed at home.
